Are you and your spouse considering baby number two?! While you might be an old pro, be sure you are ready with proper preconception planning! While everything about pre-conception planning from your first child still holds true for the second, it is even more important to eat well, exercise, and get your weight under control because you have the added demands of continuing to mother your first child – something that we already know takes a toll on your body.
While it can be hard to make time to work out, it is important. Consider signing up for a gym with onsite daycare, use nap-time to pop in a workout DVD, or get active with your little one by taking a stroller jog or actively playing on the playground with them.
We know how difficult it is to eat and cook healthy meals with a toddler always about. When your little one goes to sleep, prep healthy snacks and store them in portioned baggies or containers so that you can grab them on the go. Prepare healthy slow cooker meals that cook all day long with no additional work necessary. Pile veggies and fruits on everything as an added nutritional bonus.
While running around as a busy mom, make sure to make time for your regular screenings and appointments. Visit your OB/GYN to talk about your prep plans and to make sure that the medications you are taking are okay for this round of pregnancy. Visit a doctor for blood work to check nutritional deficiencies. Sometimes the first pregnancy will drain your supplies and you will need to get your nutritional stores back up. If you bring your little one to the appointments, be sure to bring enough activities to keep them busy.
